Everybody looks forward to seeing what the seniors will get up to for the senior prank. Is it going to be funny or destructive? The senior prank is a good way for the senior class to bond and have fun, but is it always good? With pranks, it can be a hit or miss. Either everyone thinks it’s hilarious, or they get in trouble for something they shouldn’t have done.

Senior pranks are a fun and engaging way to make memories with classmates. Its your last year, you want to make good memories and have a good time and a class prank can be a perfect way to do so. Everyone gets together and has a fun time pulling a prank on the school. Even the students who don’t participate in the prank have a fun time seeing what their classmates get up to.

Senior pranks aren’t the problem, but the mob mentality that comes with them can be. If a handful of students have an idea and they start spreading it around, more students will start to go along with it, as they don’t want to feel left out. In other scenarios, students are just caught up in the moment, all the excitement makes them go along with it and not think of the consequences. It only takes a small group of people to convince the rest.

Getting a senior class all together to prank the school is also a good way to bond. Not everyone is able to join sports or extracurricular activities, so by having senior traditions similar to the senior prank, it lets everyone have a way to interact and bond together which can have many positive outcomes both in school and outside. It leaves less room for there to be a negative environment among the students.

Some seniors also view the prank as a sort of necessity to the school year. The senior prank can be a passage of rites in some cases, that if you don’t participate, then you’re not really a senior at the school and have no school spirit. They think that you’re not properly enjoying your senior year if you don’t do a senior prank. It’s a tradition and no one wants to break the tradition. So every senior class keeps going with the prank, even if it gets out of hand some years.

So, while a senior prank is a fun way for students to all get together and connect, it can also be a source of trouble. Not every student’s idea of a “funny” prank is funny to everyone else,  it can end up being more harmful than good. Leaving toilet paper on the school is harmless as long as it’s picked up later, but spray painting all over the school is just plain destructive. If the point of the prank is to make everyone laugh and have a good time, then you’ve got a good prank. Though at the end of the day, it’s just a prank. Sometimes they get out of hand, but the majority are just for fun.
