On October 21, the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program grabbed the board’s attention. These classes have been expanding over the past few years and with the support of grants they have been able to add two CIS courses. The Youth Skills Training Grant ($77,000) and the Future ForwardImpact Grant ($28,300) have funded new welding equipment including 14 welding machines, 16 sets of PPE and steel for new welding booths. “The equipment is state of the art. It is what’s found in industry,” said CTE teacher Jeff Jensen . With the money they are also able to fund career exploration events and introduce students to possible future employers.
