The National Honor Society of Albert Lea High School inducted 42 members on October 28 at 7:00 p.m. These students were accepted based on their excellent performance in school. Students who are nominated have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. They must also complete 20 service hours.
Students must apply to be a part of the National Honor Society, commonly known as NHS. It is an organization that emphasizes leadership, character and community.
There are four pillars in the NHS, each of them is represented by a student and role. Senior Nevaeh Wacholz is the president representing leadership. Senior Kyle Steffl is the Vice-President and was the first to come to the stand and represent scholarship. Senior Rosa Corey-Gruenes, the communications officer, represents service. Senior Lauren Raleigh, secretary, represents character. And finally Hannah Schuhmacher, the blood drive representative, was the last to give a speech.
The NHS officers lit up the four pillar candles before the ceremony began. Each new member came on stage and signed the society book. After the ceremony, there was a dinner for the inductees and their families.
