In addition to Senior Privilege, there are more changes coming this school year that will affect student life.
The first has to do with credit requirements. The class of 2025 and 2026, Juniors and Seniors, will have no change to their credit requirements, staying at 46 required credits. Sophomores will now be required to take Personal Finance, as well as, two semesters of World History, bumping them up to 47 required credits.
Freshman will now be required to take a Career Exploration class. This will increase the graduation requirements for the class of 2028 up to 48 credits.
Principal Chris Dibble explains the main reason for this change is “to prepare people for life after high school.”
Secondly, they will not be assigning lockers.
“Almost no one used them,” said Dibble of the change in locker assignments.
If students need a locker there will be a QR code to scan so you can request one. Students were able to scan the codes at the Open House on August 15.
Thirdly, if you order food to the school during school hours, it will be turned away. No Uber Eats or DoorDash at ALHS.
“It’s against our contract with food service,” said Dibble. “We just have to put a hard no on it. We can’t have deliveries coming in.”
Lastly, during E-learning days, days where students and staff are not able to physically be at school due to weather conditions, students will have three days to complete their posted assignments in Google Classroom, as opposed to the previous five day requirement.
