In my 17 years on this earth, I have never been on a spring break, until I traveled to Arizona with my family.
Arizona is well-known as the Grand Canyon state, however, we were staying in Queen Creek with my aunt and uncle so we didn’t make the 300-mile trip but we got to see plenty of red rock without making that journey.
On the first day, we did a short hike in the San Tan Valley which was filled with Saguaro Cacti which is a must-see in my opinion. We also went to The Humble Bistro which is a relatively affordable restaurant close to the Mesa Airport.
The second day we decided to travel another couple of hours to Sedona to see the beautiful red rock formations they have there. While in Sedona, we went into a touristy western-themed area to a restaurant that had beautiful windows facing the mountains.
On the third day, we tried the botanical garden to see all of the different plants that are native to the Arizona landscape and saw the butterfly garden that housed more than 1,500 butterflies.
On our fourth and final full day in Arizona, we drove up to Tortilla Flats, known as the place that Franklin D. Roosevelt said was one of the most beautiful places on Earth. We also went on the Desert Belle Cruise on Saguaro Lake.
If you are looking for a quiet destination, Arizona is probably not the best place to be. Most of the places we went to were packed full of tourists. Arizona is one of the prettiest places to visit with vast differences in its terrain.
Vacation is expensive and I value a good stay-cation, it seems as though you always want what you don’t have. Whenever you’re on vacation you look forward to getting home again, and whenever you are home you want to be on vacation. However, we made memories to last a lifetime together that we wouldn’t have stayed at home and for that I am forever grateful.
