The years are increasing and technology is advancing. And so is art. But is it really advancing? Modern art is not as appealing to look at than art from say, the Renaissance Era. How did we go from “Girl with a Pearl Earring” to a canvas that is just blue? I do not understand the hype around modern art. They may have deep important meanings, but how are we supposed to know what a blue painting means without context?
A big blue painting with a white stripe going down the middle was auctioned for $43.8 million. “Onement VI” was painted by Barnett Newman. I do not know what the art is trying to tell me without having to research it.
Classical art provides the context of the art without needing to Google it. Now I need to search up what every artwork means because the art piece itself is not enough. The brush strokes are amazing, but it’s just not speaking to me the way “The Creation of Adam” does.
