Music is an important part of life, and it brings us all together. Our school happens to be lucky enough to have some very talented musicians. One of these students, 8th grader Greta Huston, has been playing violin for 10 years, since she was four. Huston’s mother plays the violin, so from a young age Huston has been learning and improving her skills.
Huston said, “My cousins play the violin so it’s kind of in my line for me to play too.”
As a child Huston didn’t want to learn the violin, but throughout the years she has grown to enjoy it. Having started an instrument so young, there was likely a pressure to be like the rest of her family.
Luckily, Huston has plenty of support from a young age, “My grandparents, they’re like my cheerleaders. So my family is very important in playing instruments.”
With such incredible skill, Huston hopes to someday join her mother in the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
