With our upcoming play this year, “The Wizard of Oz”, we know the cast is busy memorizing lines and singing to give us the show of our lives. But we should also remember that the people who help backstage, as they are also working hard to make sure the musical stands out with its visuals on set, like Freshman Allondra De Rosas Lazaro.
De Rosas Lazaro, who has worked backstage on other plays including Southwest Middle School, enjoys the energy of the theater and spending time with friends who are in the play.
De Rosas Lazaro said, “Even though it can be stressful (moving the set pieces), I still like the chaos of it.”
De Rosas Lazaro hopes to continue helping backstage in the future, but if that doesn’t work out, she hopes to contribute by playing an instrument in the pit.
“I think it’ll be fun regardless if I am backstage or in the pit,” said De Rosas Lazaro. “I would like to be in future musicals.”
