The Astronomy Club is advised by Mr. Fiscus and in the most recent meeting they were talking about the different types of solar eclipses. The Astronomy Club meets every month for 40 minutes in F106A and they also watch the skies outside of school hours. This happens 2-3 times a year and already once this year. Most recently, they went to the Hormel Nature Center in Austin to see the solar eclipse on Oct. 14. The eclipse took place from 10 A.M. until 1:15 P.M. They had a telescope and some white paper that they could see the solar eclipse on.
Other times they adventured out of the classroom is when Albert Lea has a home game for a sport and there is a clear night. The Astronomy Club will set up a telescope and show spectators the moon.
“It’s fun. It’s free. And we have chocolate at every meeting,” said Fiscus.
So why not stay an hour after school once a month and make connections with others who have the same interests as you. They met on the second Monday of each month through May from 3:05-3:45 in F106A.
