New Teacher Feature: Krystal Webinger
The Albert Lea High School counseling staff welcomed two new staff members this year. If you have a last name beginning with the letters H-O, you may have already met Krystal Webinger, as she would be your school counselor.
Originally from Owatonna, Minnesota, Webinger is no stranger to the Albert Lea area. During her time as a Husky, she participated in dance, volleyball and track. She stayed in southern Minnesota during her college years, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Corrections and her Master’s degree in school counseling from Mankato State University. Webinger pursued these majors for several reasons.
“I have always wanted to help kids and was curious and intrigued to learn why people do the things they do,” she said.
Of all of the things that she could teach students, Webinger believes that resilience is the most valuable skill. She also advises students to “be true to yourself.”
Outside of the counseling office, she enjoys reading, playing video games and spending time outdoors. She likes to practice archery and garden in her free time. Webinger has an abundance of pets as well, including two dogs, Nixie and Malachi, two cats, Leo and Busta, and one Beta fish, Huey.
