Staff and Students Plan Prom
The theme for Albert Lea High School’s 2018 prom is Starry Night inspired by the painting by Vincent Van Gogh. Prom Committee is being headed by Jessica Gregory and Ken Fiscus. The committee is also composed of 12 juniors who are dedicated to turning Starry Night into a success. The committee has been meeting sporadically before school since October and will begin to meet on Saturdays as well starting March 24.
Prom is set for April 21 between 8-11 p.m. in the Albert Lea High School gymnasium. The cost for tickets is $20 per person or $35 per couple. Tickets will go on sale between April 9-13 as well as after school on April 12. Students should bring their identification along with their money to purchase their tickets.
Students are allowed to bring a guest from a different school as long as they are in grades 10-12 or are in their first year out of high school. All guests also must be under the age of 21. ALHS students hoping to bring a guest must have a permission form filled out before Friday, March 22, and their request must be approved for their guest to attend. Students can pick up their permission forms in the back office.
Bragen Rights Photography will be in the second floor of the E wing from 2-5 p.m. There are a variety of picture packages to choose from. Order forms will be available for pick-up from the main office and will need to be returned to the main office by April 20.
Promenade will be held April 21 starting at 3 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.
Members of prom committee are looking forward to bringing their plans to life.
Junior Makenzie Kenyon, president of Prom Committee, said, “[I’m most looking forward to] decorating the three days before prom because that’s mainly when the vision is brought to life.”
Since last year’s prom theme was “The Great Gatsby” and was almost entirely classy. This year the committee is hoping to balance elegance with fun.
Even though prom might appear to solely be about the dancing and the games, food is equally as important. Everything down to the food will be starry night/galaxy themed.
Those looking forward to prom should expect a modern, classy affair. The 2018 prom is sure to be out of this world!
