House of Cards
Adapted from best-selling novel trilogy and later BBC miniseries, “House of Cards” follows Democratic Representative Francis “Frank” Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, in his quest for power after being passed over for the position of Secretary of State by the incoming President whose campaign Underwood assisted with in order to receive the appointment.
Alongside his wife, Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright, Frank uses the people around him as pawns in an elaborate game of chess as he works toward his goal.
“House of Cards” was one of the first Netflix Original Series to be produced and has been nominated for numerous awards including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series.
With 52 episodes each lasting anywhere from 45-59 minutes, there is a large amount of plot to digest and characters to follow.
I give this series a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars. This series is geared toward an older audience as it features mature content not suitable for young viewers, but with its talented cast and production crew, “House of Cards” is a must watch for those who love the complex story lines and drama that come with a show centered around American politics.
