Winter Sports
Winter sports are the longest season of the year. With many lasting 3-4 months sports teams become more like a family.
This year many winter sports seasons are overlapping with fall sports due to Labor Day being later than in the past.
The winter season consists of 7 sports: wrestling, boys swim and dive, dance, boys and girls basketball and boys and girls hockey.
Many returning athletes are excited to see where this season will take them. Rachel Wangen, captain of the dance team, is looking forward to beating their past placing at Big 9 and sections and maybe go to state.
“We have a good team this year I could see us going all the way.” Wangen said.

Girls hockey kicks off the winter season with a game at 7 p.m. November 5 at the Albert Lea City Arena.
“It’s exciting being the season opener.” Senior captain Haley Larson said. “We expect a lot of fans to show up and show school spirit.”
