She will never forget that feeling of stepping out on the stage for the first time. Her first audition. Junior Claire Buendorf has played the piano for 7 years. But never has she auditioned for something like this.
Tigers Roar, in its 66th year of existence, is directed by Mindy Kruger and Lynda Kiesler. The spring talent show allows students to showcase their talents and skills. Students audition with musical acts, dance acts and many others.
From singing to dancing, from acting to comedy, the talent of ALHS students varies greatly. All of them are uniquely different from each other in their own way. For Buendorf, it’s piano playing. Piano playing is something she loves. It’s also how she spends a lot of her down time. Buendorf auditioned for Tiger’s Roar with a classical piano piece called “Knact Rupeart.”
“I really want to show people what I’ve been working on,” Buendorf said.
Students can show their fellow students and the public what they can do. Junior Matt Attig, a Tiger’s Roar MC, said he is looking forward to seeing the different talents.
“You get to learn things about people that you didn’t know before,” he said.
Attig, along with Juniors Sergio Salgado and Nick Bera, are this year’s Tiger’s Roar MCs. It’s their first year, and their goal is simple: Humor.
“I’m looking forward to making people laugh,” Salgado said.
They are looking forward to the skits and seeing what kind of humor they can inject.
While the MCs concentrate on humor, the acts concentrate on the theme of the show. This year’s theme is “A Night in the Tiger’s Lair.” It can be interpreted in many different ways.
“People could see it as their home, because we are the Tigers,” said Mindy Kruger, one of the directors. “People could also see it as an actual Tigers home. Or people could see it as something dark, like a night club.”
With all of the possibilities, what it comes down to is the person’s imagination.
The talent varies from singing, dancing, acting, and instrument performing. Some of the people you will see performing include The ALHS Drumline, Jaclyn Weitzel, Cierra Maras, and Riptide. The show is filled with diversity and entertainment. “The audience is sure to have fun,” Buendorf said. “It will be exciting and entertaining.”
